Traject Data Enhances Google AI Overview Data Extraction Capabilities to Help Organizations Scale Insights Faster in a More Flexible Manner

AI overview summaries are driving consumer search behavior, and Traject Data has been a leader in enabling organizations to collect and analyze the data that drives it

Traject Data, which provides SERP and eCommerce API solutions to enable seamless data collection, analysis, and integration, announced enhancements to its capability to extract insights from Google AI Overview data. These updates include better device coverage, richer source parsing, and expanded output formats, all of which help organizations scale insights faster in a more flexible manner.

The AI Overview (AIO), which Google now provides at the top of the page following a query, is transforming how users interact with search, and the implications for retailers are significant. Increasingly, users are not clicking through links in search results where an AIO is provided, presumably because they are relying entirely on the AIO to answer the question, which heightens the importance of understanding AIO data.

“AIO data is extremely valuable to us, as we have several ongoing initiatives focused on AI data,” said Brian Sappey, CTO at Semify. “Having access to this dataset is exactly what we’ve been looking for and will be instrumental as we enhance our reporting and decision making for our clients.”

Traject Data has been a leader in enabling organizations to extract data from AIO results so they can understand the trends shaping AIO and adjust their marketing and business strategies accordingly. The new enhancements include:

  • Comma-separated value (CSV) output for AIO results on desktop: Customers can now export Google AIO data in CSV format from desktop searches, which includes structured fields for banners, content, sources, and footers. It’s ideal for bulk analysis and ingestion into internal systems.
  • Mobile Support for Google AIO: AIO data is now available for mobile device searches on the Google US domain, which unlocks visibility into how Google’s AI-generated content appears on mobile. This is critical for mobile-first indexing and SEO strategy.
  • Expanded Source Retrieval for Google AIO: Traject Data’s platform now captures all sources revealed when the “show all” button is clicked in the Google AIO panel. This enables customers to access the full set of references used in a given AI Overview response.

“Google AIO is profoundly shaping consumer decisions, so it’s critical for companies to extract AIO data so they can analyze and understand these results,” said Rochelle Thielen, CEO of Traject Data. “We have led the way in providing access to this data, and with these enhancements, our customers will be able to extract it faster in formats that make it easier to analyze and produce rapid, actionable insights.”
